SURFBOARD CARE
HELM boards combine traditional glassed surfboard construction with a traction-wrapped hybrid build, delivering wax-free grip, added durability, and impact protection without sacrificing speed or feel.
That said, these are still true glassed boards. The core is built like a standard surfboard and can break under heavy stress. Treat your board with care and it will last longer, stay cleaner, and keep you surfing more.
Care Tips
-
Handle with care, like any hard board.
The soft EVA wrap on the deck and rails provides extra protection for you and the board, but it can still dent, tear, puncture, or crack on impact. -
Avoid heat + direct sun exposure.
Never leave your board in a hot car or baking in direct sunlight. Excessive heat can cause bubbling or delamination, and prolonged UV exposure will weaken materials over time (this applies to all surfboards). -
Store properly.
When not in use, keep your board in a cool, dry place. -
Rinse after every session.
Rinse with fresh water after use. Saltwater is corrosive and can weaken fiberglass over time. -
Use a padded board bag.
For transportation and storage, a padded bag helps prevent unexpected impacts and dings. -
Know your limits in heavy surf.
Push your progression, but stay within safe control. Unmanaged boards are more likely to buckle or break in heavier waves, which can put you and others at risk. Build confidence in smaller surf before gradually stepping up.
SURFBOARD REPAIR
If your board has a ding or puncture that exposes foam or allows water to enter the glassing, repair it immediately.
Use sandpaper + epoxy surfboard resin to seal the area from water intrusion, ensure adhesion, and sand to a smooth finish. For best results, consult your local ding repair shop.
